This unique collection of islands have
their own customs, and offer visitors a tantalising
mix of French and British culture, with beautiful
scenery, proud castles and sumptuous food.
St Helier, on Jersey,
the capital, has a distinctly continental feel.
Visit the Jersey Museum, the Maritime
Museum and the Occupation Tapestry Gallery
illustrating the occupation of Jersey during World
War II, a story brought to home at the nearby
German Underground Hospital.
With its beautiful coastline
and network of traffic-free ‘green lanes’, Jersey
is the perfect place for walking or cycling.
On the east coast is the fishing
village of Gorey, dominated by Mont
Orgueil Castle, which was attacked by the
French no fewer
than 15 times. |

| North of Gorey is Jersey Zoo,
breeding centre for endangered species, founded by author
and conservationist Gerald Durrell.
Nearby at St Saviour is the
prehistoric site of La Hougue Bie, a massive
burial mound dating from 3800 BC, topped by two medieval
chapels.
Dozens of little towns are hidden away
down among the green places of the countryside, and
villages string out along the shores.
The towers and steeples of parish
churches mark the high ground beyond trimmed hedgerows.

Touring Jersey and Guernsey by car
Almost 300 miles of country
lanes are tucked into Guernsey’s 25 square miles.
The unique laws and customs found on the island mean
that many of the day-to-day sights are different: look
out for the yellow phone boxes and blue post boxes and
the stone 'seat' built into the chimneys of old houses,
for passing witches to park their broomsticks and
warm themselves for a while!
Castle Cornet has stood
guard over Guernsey’s pretty capital, St Peter Port
for 800 years. The town’s most famous resident was French
novelist Victor Hugo, and you can take a tour
of his fascinating house where he wrote Les Miserables.
Nearby is The Little Chapel, the world’s smallest
consecrated church, built by French monk, Brother Déodat,
from broken teapots, pebbles and shells.
It's a place of short distances
and long ferry rides, so hire a car and go take a look
. . .
Our "Quote and Pick" booking
process will provide you with competing quotes from
all our car providers in the area you want to travel,
and then you can choose which quote suits you best.
Simply choose a region from the list
below and click on the region, or a major
city, either way you'll get to the right page, and
then you can make a booking as you'd like it to be,
instead of the way some hire company wants it to be
