Car Hire along the Scottish border |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The borders
. . . Roman temples, rolling country
and wild woods with eagles and deer. Little bit
of heaven really, and if the old song says "the
Garden of Eden is lost now they say, but I know
the lay of it still . . ." well it's here,
on the West coast, round the lovely old
town of Carlisle, and the Eden Valley.
So start on the East side
of England, in old Northumbria, pick
up a car in Newcastle, or even as far South
as Teeside, at the international airport,
and go North to Hadrian's Wall. From there you
can idle across the Tweed Valley staying
in charming towns and villages.
If you are a literature buff
you can visit the grave of Edie Ochiltree in Roxburgh,
or if history interests you there's William Wallace's
memorial at Dryburgh, with the words:
"Peerless knight of Elderslie
Who waved on Ayr's romantic shore
the beamy light of Liberty,
and roaming round from sea to sea,
from glade obscure to gloomy rock,
his bold companions call'd to free
the realm from Edward's iron yoke." |

Car hire in UK and more . . .
|
| |
You can ponder on how this
brave heart died, and the bloody, truculent history
of this beautiful land. Then again, you could just take
the kids for a roam in the wild woods and try
to spot an otter, or keep a respectful distance
from "auld wise Brock" the badger. And you can get to
Eden, honest.
To sample it take your hire
car and look around the place. Our "Quote and
pick" system will provide you with the car and the
cost that suits you best.
These links will take you to our main North
of England car rental locations. Pick up and drop
off details are on your booking confirmation . . . |

How to get moving along Hadrian's wall and down to
Carlisle.
So here you are at Hadrian's
wall. Well, you could walk across to Carlisle
. . . it has been done. Then
you'd know why the Romans left so gladly and so easily.
And anywhere to anywhere is quite a stroll up here.
It's a problem you won't confront
if you use our revolutionary "Quote and Pick"
system. Simply hit the button for a quote anywhere on
these pages, then scan through the quotes from every
one of our suppliers in any given area, and pick
the best one for you. We have pick up points all over
the Ireland and the UK, and more coming
on line all the time, so we've about got it covered.
Now, they are a tough lot up along
the borders, and probably think nothing of a
three hour walk in "brisk" conditions. And you'll
be perfectly assisted by people who think "Air ayont
three hoor fra here" means about "three hours further
on from here" . . . go on, press
the button . . . it's easier.
